Hilma Aure Modal
My name is Hilma, I am a 17 year old girl from Norway. When I hear the phrase “To belong”, I think about the memories that are created around the feeling of growing up surrounded with good friends, who at all times made you feel safe and appreciated. But at the end of the day, we all grow up, and memories will become weaker with time as the child-like depiction of our world slowly turns into a life where nobody is there to filter the realities of the world before they reach you.
I wanted to base my photos around just that feeling. The feeling of nostalgia that follows sadness. When life has one of its rough patches, I often find myself wishing that I was a child again. I tried to capture this very feeling by creating pictures where the surroundings are very saturated, as many remember the world looking like as children, but keeping my models a sad shade of grey. I intentionally chose my models to be grown-ups, because I wanted to capture the feeling of wishing you were a child again.
