Hi, My name Is Emil Salakka. I’m a media student from Prakticum here in Helsinki. I love the creative process of making things and learning new skills, which is what led me to pursue a career in a more “Artistic” field.

When we were told that the theme for the NU project was “To Belong” my first thought was kinship. Feeling of belonging in a community. And the first community that then came to mind, was skating.

For this project I wanted to be very traditional to the skating community. All the pictures that have been taken were unscripted and unplanned, as to hopefully keep more of the vibrant and energetic nature of skating and hopefully bring a feeling of relating and belonging to me and the viewer.
